A Legion of Honour Medal bar comprising seven decorations in two rows, all sewn or pinned to a black felt bar, measuring 125 mm (w) x 120 mm (h - to base of Indochine medal), the decorations include:
A Legion of Honour, Officer’s Cross, in gold and enamels, surmounting wreath, marked with an eagles head denoting minimum Gold purity of .750 between 1847-1919 on the 6 o’clock ribbon and the suspension ring between the cross and wreath, measures 39.8 mm (w) x 58.4 mm (h), enamels intact on obverse, minor chips in the white arms and edge of medallion on the reverse, extremely fine.
A Croix De Guerre Des Theatres d’Operations Exterieurs, in bronze, full size, worn on original ribbon with four star devices, very fine.
A Croix de la Valeur Militaire, in bronze, full size, original ribbon with two stars devices for citations, very fine.
A Colonial Medallion, in silver, full size, original ribbon with clasp EXTREME ORIENT, dark patina, very fine.
An Indochina Campaign Commemorative Medal, in bronze, full size with dragon suspension, original ribbon, very fine.
A UN Peace Medal, in bronze, full size, original ribbon, very fine.
A North Africa Security and Order Operations Commemorative Medal, in bronze, full size, original ribbon with TUNISIE and ALGERIE, light wear, in near very fine condition.
The Original Legion of Honour Document is named to Mr Hubert Gautret de la Moriciere, Lieutenant-Colonel of the Cavalry Corps, denoting the officer grade decoration, dated July 1977, measures 340 mm (h) x 450 mm (w), rolled by minor wear, in extremely fine condition. The Document is contained within a red cylindrical roll, measures 373 mm (l) x 47 mm (diameter), light wear, lid cap bears light wear, in very fine condition.
Accompanied by two pieces of insignia: A 1st Foreign Cavalry Regiment Badge, in silver and enamels, two loops with a removable pin on the reverse, marked DRAGO PARIS, measures 29.9 mm (w) x 38.6 mm (h), light wear, in very fine condition; a Colonial Armoured Regiment of the Far East Badge, in silver and silver gilt, reverse marked H805 DEPOSE DRAGO PARIS, pin on reverse, measures 27.2 mm (w) x 35.0 mm (h), loss of gilt wear, dark patina, in very fine condition. The Medal Bar and Insignia are contained in a Batavia Cigar tin.
Footnote: Hubert Gautret de la Moricière was a lieutenant in the 1st Foreign Cavalry Regiment in Indochina, then a colonel in Algeria. He is also buried in Montfaucon. He was born on July 19, 1926 in Paris. He served with his brother, Guy.
