Description
Description
(Feldbluse für einen Generalleutnant der Wehrmacht). An exceptional and extremely well preserved field tunic belonging to a Generalleutnant of the Wehrmacht, constructed of fine-quality field-grey wool, with a traditional turned-down collar that is fully lined on the top with a layer of dark green wool. The collar is flanked on each side by a matching set of collar tabs, constructed of red wool with buckram cores, both topped by gold aluminum bullion wire litzen, measuring 40 mm (l) x 88 mm (w). The shoulders are adorned with sewn-on shoulder boards, constructed of red wool with card stock cores, the uppers with a band of silver aluminum bullion wire piping interwoven with two lengths of gold bullion wire piping with a single silvered pip fastened to the obverse, measuring 115 mm (l) x 45 mm (w). The boards are stitched to the tunic at the shoulders and secured to the tunic via a single pebbled button per side. This tunic features four pleated pockets, two at waist-height and two at breast-height. All are secured shut via a scalloped flap and gilded pebbled buttons. Directly above the right-side breast pocket is a Wehrmacht eagle, constructed of a dark green wool backer and golden flat and twisted aluminum bullion wires in the shape of a national eagle with outstretched wings clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, measuring 11 cm (w) x 42 mm (l). A pair of threaded loops have been sewn to the same pocket for the addition of a vertically mounted award, with four vertically-oriented loops on the opposite pocket and seven threaded loops mounted horizontally directly above. The tunic closes in the front with six gilded and pebbled buttons on the right, meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the opposing side. The body of the interior is fully lined with a green multi-piece rayon liner, while the sleeves are lined with lined rayon. It measures approximately 42 cm across the shoulders (seam to seam), with a sleeve length of 60cm, and an overall body length of 75 cm. This is an exceptional and extremely well preserved example of a Wehrmacht Generalleutnant service tunic, in better than extremely fine condition.
