Germany, Heer. A Pair of Tropical Enlisted Personnel Wehrmacht Service Trousers

(Wehrmacht Heer Tropenhose). This is a pair of tropical Wehrmacht (Heer) service trousers as worn by enlisted personnel in the entire Mediterranean theater of war, including Africa and Southern Italy. They are constructed of olive drab-coloured corduroy, with one diagonal-slit pocket per side in the front, with an additional small horizontal slit pocket to the side of the right pocket. The front was secured shut via six vertically mounted buttons, of which only one remains, with the buttons meeting a matching number of hidden reinforced buttonholes on the opposing side. On the waistline is an integrated belt, exiting through the front, weaved through the three-claw magnetic buckle, and then weaved through a single loop hole. Along the exterior of the reverse, on the right side, is a horizontal-slit pocket that is secured shut via a single matching stamped aluminum button. These trousers are unlined, for the exception of the waistband, crotch, and pockets, which are lined with off-white cotton, marked with a stamp in black ink reading “Br. 6 42” along the right side of the interior waistline. Towards the rear of the waistband are a pair of straps with a matching zink button on the ends, for the suspension of optional suspenders. This pair measures approximately 38 cm across (seam to seam), with an inseam of 71 cm, and an overall length of 102 cm. An example of worn tropical trousers, with light soiling, missing all buttons except for 1 (repaired), and in overall near very fine condition.
