Description
Description
(Heer Schiffchen M35 für Mannschaften der Panzertruppe). A well-preserved Heer Armoured Enlisted personnel M35 field cap, constructed of field-grey wool. It is fully surrounded by fold-down side walls which scallop toward the front, and which are held in position by a piece of heavy stitching toward the front of each side. The crown is flanked on each side by a ventilation hole reinforced with a grey painted metal grommet. Stitched onto the peak is an insignia consisting of a dark green rayon backer bearing a machine-embroidered silver-grey Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, measuring 65 mm (w) x 25 mm (h). Directly below the eagle, the centre of the wall features an additional insignia in the form of a dark green rayon backer bearing a machine-embroidered tri-colour cockade, measuring 35 mm (w) x 35 mm (h). The cockade is surrounded by a rose-pink soutache which is securely stitched into the structure of the cap. A multi-piece grey cotton liner fully encompasses the interior, with the crown bearing the illegible remnants of stamped maker and size marks, along with an additional handwritten number “5”. The cap measures approximately 28 cm (l) x 11 cm (h) when folded on a flat surface. Moderate material fatigue is visible to the eagle, significant wear consistent with field use and clearing is evident to the exterior wool and contrasts with the unspoiled material beneath the walls, and the interior liner demonstrates some soiling and fatigue. The cap remains in an overall very fine condition.
