In response to evolving domestic opinion, eMedals Inc has made the conscious decision to remove the presentation of German Third Reich historical artifacts from our online catalogue. For three decades, eMedals Inc has made an effort to preserve history in all its forms. As historians and researchers, we have managed sensitive articles and materials with the greatest of care and respect for their past and present social context. We acknowledge the growing sentiments put forth by the Canadian public and have taken proactive actions to address this opinion.

Description
Description
(HJ Fahrtenmesser). An HJ member’s knife, measuring 25.5 cm in total length when inserted into the scabbard. It features a 14 cm-long, nickel-plated, magnetic steel blade which retains some factory-original sharpening to the tip and lower edge. Acid-etched onto the obverse of the blade is a motto of “BLUT UND EHRE!” (“BLOOD AND HONOUR!”) in cursive script. The reverse is maker marked “A.W. JR., SOLINGEN” for the firm of Anton Wingen Jr., circumscribing the company’s classic knight logo. The blade sits securely within a nickel-plated magnetic metal hilt, which features a hooked quillon and pommel to facilitate a comfortable grip. Two pieces of pebbled black bakelite compose the handle grip, and are fastened in place with dual non-magnetic metal rivets. Inset into the obverse of the handle is an enameled HJ insignia measuring 25 mm (w) x 15 mm (h). Accompanying the dagger is its original scabbard, constructed of a black painted magnetic metal shaft. Riveted to the reverse is a blackened leather strap, fastened into a loop for belt suspension. A functional spring catch situated within the throat firmly holds the knife in place during storage. Issues consistent with age and wear are evident, an include running marks and tarnishing to the blade which has partially-obscured the inscription, some blunting of the tip, chipping to the handle insignia, loss of paint to the scabbard, and material fatigue throughout the strap which has resulted in the loss of its snap button. This period-worn example remains in a very fine condition.
