Germany, Imperial. An Alfred Maul Memorial Table Medal, with Case, by Lauer & Wiedmann

(Alfred Maul Gedenkmedaille mit Etui). Constructed of bronze, the obverse bearing a raised rightward-facing profile of Alfred Maul, circumscribed by name and dates “1828-1907”, the reverse bearing raised figures engaged in gymnastics, circumscribed by an inscriptions of “MENS SARE IN CORPORE SANO” (“A HEALTH MIND IN A HEALTHY BODY”), unmarked, measuring 50 mm in diameter, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a card stock frame, the exterior with a faux red leather liner, the interior with a white silk lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a depressed white velvet medal bed, opening with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release and a functional metal hinge, the bottom retaining a maker’s label of “LAUER U. WIEDMANN, PFORZHEIM”, measuring 72 mm (w) x 72 mm (l) x 20 mm (h), with minor material fatigue evident, in overall near extremely fine condition.
