(Beobachterabzeichen mit Etui). Constructed of silvered brass with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a German State Crown, surrounding a central red enameled square medallion bearing a black and white checkered centrepiece, overlaying a ribbed void, the reverse with two visible prongs securing the obverse medallion in position, with a raised barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, unmarked, measuring 45.56 mm (w) x 71.69 mm (h), weighing 25.1 grams, accompanied by its presentation case, constructed of a wooden frame with a faux black leather exterior liner, the interior with a white satin lid liner and partially-intact hinge cover, with a slotted maroon velvet medal bed, closing with a magnetic metal spring catch with exterior stud release, unmarked, measuring 57 mm (w) x 85 mm (l) x 22 mm (h), demonstrating some flecking to the enamels of the badge with a moderate patina through the base metal, in overall near extremely fine condition.
