Germany, Kriegsmarine. A Coastal Artillery War Badge, by C.E. Juncker

(Kriegsabzeichen für die Marineartillerie). Constructed of gilded and silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, surrounding a central coastal artillery gun with its barrel raised and extending beyond the edge of the wreath, the ground upon which the ground is situated demonstrating the Juncker firm’s characteristic blackening, the reverse with a barrel hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a flat wire catch, designer marked “OTTO PLACZEK, BERLIN” and maker marked “C.E. JUNCKER, BERLIN”, measuring 41.72 mm (w) x 53.55 mm (h), weighing 20.1 grams, demonstrating near-total loss of finish throughout, in very fine condition.
