A rare Luftwaffe Meritorious Service Plaque, constructed of bronze, the obverse bearing a central engraved and toned inscription of “FÜR HERVORRAGENDE LEISTUNG” (“FOR OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT”), topped by a raised Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, adn situated above an engraved and toned dedication of “DER WEHRMACHTBEFEHLSHABER IN DEN NIEDERLANDEN” (“THE WEHRMACHT COMMANDER IN THE NETHERLANDS”) and a facsimile signature of General der Flieger Friedrich Christiansen in his capacity as the former, the reverse maker marked “IMME & SOHN, BERLIN” for a noted manufacturer of Luftwaffe awards, measuring 14 cm (w) x 18.5 cm (h), accompanied by its original presentation case, constructed of a lacquered wooden frame, the lid bearing a central rectangular brass plaque overlaid by a raised Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, opening to reveal a dark blue velvet lid liner and fitted bed, closing with a functional magnetic metal snap button, unmarked, measuring 20.5 cm (w) x 20.5 cm (l) x 4 cm (h), demonstrating minor tarnishing throughout the plaque and some scratching to the case’s wooden shell, a rarely-seen complete presentation set in near extremely fine condition.
