Germany, Luftwaffe. A Pair of Unissued Tropical Luftwaffe Field Service Trousers for Enlisted Men

(Luftwaffe Tropenhose). An example of unissued tropical Luftwaffe service trousers as worn by enlisted personnel in the entire Mediterranean theater of war, including Africa and Southern Italy. These trousers are constructed of khaki-coloured cotton twill with a corduroy pattern, and feature one diagonal-slit pocket per side in the front. The front of these trousers feature a 240 mm long vertical slit that is missing all buttons (never installed) with hidden reinforced buttonholes on the opposing side. Immediately to the left and right of the frontal opening is a vertical slit to allow for the threading-through of an integral belt that is missing its buckle (never installed). The reverse features two horizontal slit pockets, one per side, that are secured shut by a flap, with a hidden reinforced button-hole, but no button (never installed). Along the front, on the left pant leg, is a large exterior horizontal-slit pocket signature to this style of Luftwaffe trousers. These trousers are unlined, for the exception of the waistband and pockets, which are lined with off-white cotton. These trousers measure approximately 44 cm across the waist (seam to seam), with an inseam of 69 cm, and an overall pant length of 103 cm. This is an example of unissued tropical Luftwaffe field service trousers for enlisted men. It is missing all metal hardware, including all buttons, clasps, and buckles, in overall near mint condition.
