Description
Description
(Tropenbluse für einen Waffen-SS Rottenführer). A well preserved service tunic, constructed of tan-coloured cotton twill and featuring a turned-down collar. Secured to the shoulders is a set of slip-on shoulder straps that are attached to the uniform via an internal fabric channel as well as a magnetic pebbled button. The shoulder straps are constructed of black wool and trimmed with red piping, while the reverse of the straps are constructed of field-grey wool, with the tongues manufactured out of black rayon material, measuring 45mm (w) x 108 mm (l). Visible on the right sleeve near the shoulders is a faint outline of where the Waffen-SS tropical eagle used to be, with tropical Waffen-SS Rottenführer chevron directly underneath, constructed of a inverted triangular black wool backer with golden-tan coloured rayon diamond patterned tresse chevrons in a V-formation, measuring 85 mm (w) x 75 mm (l). This tunic features a total of four horizontal-slit pockets all secured by a scalloped flap and a pebbled bakelite button that is met with a reinforced buttonhole on the flap. Each button is dated “1942” and maker-marked “JFS'' on the reverse, and is attached to the tunic via a spiral metal loop on the inside of the tunic. The left breast pocket features 2 black loops for the attachment of awards with a vertical-pinback. The interior is completely unlined, with a loop for hanging on the collar and an internal channel along the waist for the addition of a drawstring that is missing. The interior of the tunic has two small pockets that are secured shut via a single pressed paper button, and is marked “137, 23, 50, 48, 108, 78, 69” on the inside of the right-hand lapel. It measures approximately 51 cm (seam to seam), with an arm length of 68 cm, and an approximate overall body length of 88 cm. This tunic is overall well preserved, showing age appropriate wear with minor fatigue and light soiling in the material, in overall very fine condition.
