(Olympische Fackel für Läufer des Fackel-Staffel-Lauf Olympia-Berlin 1936). An exceptionally well-preserved 1936 Berlin Olympics torch, constructed of non-magnetic stainless steel, the flattened top bearing engraved inscriptions of “ALS DANK DEM TRÄGER” (“AS GRATITUDE TO THE BEARER”) and “ORGANISATIONS-KOMITEE FÜR DIE XI. OLYMPIADE BERLIN 1936” (“ORGANIZING COMMITTEE FOR THE 11TH OLYMPIAD BERLIN 1936”), surrounding a wick slot, the stem bearing an engraved German national eagle clutching Olympic rings, situated above an inscription of “FACKEL-STAFFEL-LAUF, OLYMPIA-BERLIN, 1936” (“TORCH RELAY RACE, OLYMPIA-BERLIN” 1936”), with the remainder of the stem fully circumscribed by a map marking the torch relay between Olympia, Greece, and Berlin, Germany, with additional waypoints marked, the underside of the cap marked “KRUPP NIROSTA V2A STAHL” and “STIFTUNG DER FRIED. KRUPP A.G., ESSEN”, measuring 15.5 cm (w) x 17 cm (h), demonstrating minor scratching throughout the surface medal and some burn marks in the wick slot consistent with use, a rare example used in the inaugural Olympic torch relay in extremely fine condition.
