Description

(Verdienstorden vom Deutschen Adler, Anstecknadel, spanische Fertigung). Constructed of gilded bronze with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of a Maltese Cross with white enameled arms, joined through the quadrants by NSDAP-style German national eagles clutching wreathed mobile swastikas on black enameled discs, unmarked but demonstrating the characteristics of Spanish manufacture c. 1950, measuring 19 mm (w) x 19 mm (h), a unique example privately-purchased by a Spanish recipient of one of Germany’s premier civil awards in extremely fine condition.
