A unique commemorative presentation box, constructed of lacquered brown wood, the lid bearing a small bronze Totenkopf situated above a cluster of oak leaves, the front side bearing a gilded bronze plaque overlaid by an engraved logo of 9. Armee, the lid opening with dual functional hinges to reveal a gilded bronze plaque overlaid by an engraved inscription of “SEINEM OBERBEFEHLSHABER HERRN GEN. D. PZTRP. VORMANN DAS OFFIZIERSKORPS DES AOK 9, 22. 9. 1944” (“COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF, GENERAL OF PANZER TROOPS VON VORMANN, THE OFFICER CORPS OF ARMEEOBERKOMMANDO 9, 22 SEPTEMBER 1944”), the base retaining four wooden feet, measuring 13 cm (w) x 10 cm (l) x 5.5 cm (h), demonstrating minor scratching and some chipping of the wood around the hinges on the interior of the lid, a scarce dedicated example to a General and Knight’s Cross recipient in near extremely fine condition.
