(Ordine della Corona d’Italia). Instituted February 20th, 1868. Constructed of 18kt Gold, consisting of a white-enamelled hollow construction Gold cross with Gold knots in the quadrants between the arms of the cross, the obverse with a blue enamelled centerpiece bearing a royal crown constructed of white, green, and red enamels, surrounded by a Gold ring, the reverse features a Gold central medallion bearing a black enamelled eagle with a red and white enamelled shield on its chest, surrounded by a matching Gold ring, suspended from a fixed loop and swivel ring suspension and accompanied by a period original ribbon, marked on the loop and integral suspension ring with a Hibou hallmark (owl) denoting French import since 1984 and a gold fineness of at least 750, measuring 50.6 mm (w) x 53.6 mm (h), weighing 15.0 grams, enamels intact, in extremely fine condition.
Accompanied by its presentation case, in red leatherette exterior with the superimposed crowned cypher of Victor Emmanuel, the interior lid with a cream coloured silk cover marked CRAVANZOLA Succ. E. Gardino, a partial black velvet base and ribbon compartment above, measures 84 mm (w) x 140 mm (l) x 28 mm (d), light damage to exterior, discolouration cypher, functional hinge and clasp, in very fine condition.
