Morocco, Protectorate. An Order Of Ouissam Alaouite, V Class Knight, By A. Bertrand

Type II (1934-1954). Instituted in 1913. Of high quality manufacture, a ball-tipped five-pointed silver star with red and white enameled arms, obverse featuring nicely enameled red background inscribed by gilded Arabic letters, reverse centrepiece featuring an enameled red emblem surrounded by a red border, suspended by a nice wreath of palm in silver, with gilded ribbon, on original orange Knight’s ribbon, ring marked by maker’s mark of Arthus Bertrand, along with silver content, measuring 41.86 mm (w) x 65.27 mm (h - inclusive of its wreath and laterally-pierced ball suspension), scattered gilt wear and minor tarnished wreath, near extremely fine.

Footnote: The Order of Ouissam Alaouite is a military decoration of Morocco which is bestowed by the King of Morocco upon those civilians and military officers who have displayed heroism in combat or have contributed meritorious service to the Moroccan state. The decoration was established on January 11, 1913 in replacement of the Order of Ouissam Hafidien.
