(Gorkha-Dakshina Bahu). Instituted in 1896. (Order of the Gurkha Right Arm or Hand). Multi-piece construction, the base and star insignia in silver, the star with nine emanating rays, with a single emanating ray between each star point, all the rays bearing an engraved angled-cut design, the outer edge intricately engraved with a series of repeating petals, the central insignia featuring the sun, crossed kukris and a pair of feet, along with the five areas of script in silver gilt, the central insignia affixed in place via a screwpost and cone-shaped nut on the reverse, measuring 77.5 mm in diameter, horizontal pinback, scattered gilt wear evident on the nose of the sun, contact marks present on the reverse, near extremely fine. Footnote: The Most Puissant Order of the Gorkha Dakshina Bahu (Order of the Gurkha Right Arm or Hand) is an order of knighthood of Nepal. It is one of the highest honours given traditionally by the king, and now, the president. It can be awarded to both the military and civilians, including foreign nationals, in five classes, for the distinguished contribution to the country in the field of arts, literature, sports, science, and social service. The order was first instituted by King Prithvi Bir Bikram Shah Dev in 1896. The order was later revived and reformed on September 7, 1932 by King Tribhuvan Bir Bikram Shah Dev.
