In response to evolving domestic opinion, eMedals Inc has made the conscious decision to remove the presentation of German Third Reich historical artifacts from our online catalogue. For three decades, eMedals Inc has made an effort to preserve history in all its forms. As historians and researchers, we have managed sensitive articles and materials with the greatest of care and respect for their past and present social context. We acknowledge the growing sentiments put forth by the Canadian public and have taken proactive actions to address this opinion.

Description
Description
(Het Metalen Kruis). Instituted in 1831. In bronze gilt, inscribed "VRIJWILLIG" (Voluntarily) above the "W" monogram on the obverse identifying it as the volunteer's version, measuring 29.5 mm (w) x 34.3 mm (h) inclusive of its laterally-pierced ball suspension, scattered gilt wear evident on the reverse, contact marks overall, without ribbon, very fine.
Footnote: The Metal Cross was established by Royal Decree and instituted on September 12, 1831. It was awarded to Dutch military personnel who participated in the ten days’ campaign in Brussels in the same year and to all Dutch military and naval personnel who served in campaigns from 1830-1831. The awards were manufactured from two cannons that were captured at Hasselt, and for this reason, the Cross is sometimes referred to as the Hasselt Cross.
