(Königlicher Hausorden von Hohenzollern Kreuz der Ritter, Miniatur in Gold). Instituted 18 January 1851 by King Friedrich Wilhelm IV. (1851-1918 issue). Constructed of 14k Gold with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a Cross Pattée with white enameled arms trimmed with narrow black borders and joined through the quadrants by a circular green enameled oak leaf wreath, the obverse bearing a central white enameled medallion overlaid by a Hohenzollern imperial eagle, situated within a blue enameled ring bearing a gilt inscription of “VOM FELS ZUM MEER” (“FROM THE CLIFFS TO THE SEA”) with arabesques, the reverse bearing a central white enameled medallion overlaid by a gilt monogram of King Friedrich Wilhelm IV, situated within a blue enameled ring bearing a gilt institution date of “18. JANUAR 1851” with arabesques, the twelve o’clock arm topped by a crown from which an integral ring emanates to accommodate a suspension ring, unmarked, measuring 16.26 mm (w) x 25.12 mm (h), weighing 2.5 grams, demonstrating minor flecking to the enamels with small chips to both obverse and reverse of the wreath, a detailed and high-quality example in near extremely fine condition.
