(Ordensschnalle). A medal bar to a distinguished Saxon First World War combatant featuring four decorations, including:
1. A Military Order of St. Henry, Silver Medal, the obverse bearing a raised and rightward-facing profile of King Friedrich August, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse bearing a central raised inscription of “VERDIENST UM DAS VATERLAND” (“SERVICE TO THE FATHERLAND”), situated within a circular laurel leaf wreath which is in turn joined together at the bottom by cannons and crossed standard flags, unmarked, measuring 36.08 mm in diameter, weighing 21.7 grams, in extremely fine condition.
2. An Albert Order, Albert’s Cross with Swords, constructed of silvered bronze, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Latin Cross with crossed swords piercing the centrepiece, the obverse bearing a raised and rightward-facing profile of Duke Albert III, circumscribed by a raised inscription of “ALBERTUS ANIMOSUS” (“ALBERT THE BOLD”) with arabesques, the reverse bearing a central raised Saxon coat of arms, circumscribed by arabesques and an institution date of “1850”, unmarked, measuring 33.82 mm (w) x 46.04 mm (h), weighing 18.1 grams, in extremely fine condition.
3. A 1914 Iron Cross II Class, constructed of iron and silver, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central initial “W”, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1914”, the twelve o’clock arm with a royal crown, the reverse with three central oak leaves, the six o'clock arm with an initial institution date of “1813“, the twelve o’clock arm with initials “FW” topped by a royal crown, the suspension loop maker marked “N” or “Z” for a documented but unidentified manufacturer, measuring 42.32 mm (w) x 46.22 mm (h), weighing 18.3 grams, in extremely fine condition.
4. A Landwehr Long Service Award, II Class, constructed of tombak, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, unmarked, measuring 25.37 mm in diameter, weighing 8.5 grams, in near extremely fine condition.
All suspended from a 140 mm-long bar with a magnetic metal core, horizontal pinback, and red wool reverse liner, demonstrating minor soiling to the ribbons, in near extremely fine condition.
