A mixed lot of seven books and publications, including a 1940 edition of “ÚTOKOM K VÍŤAZSTVU” (“ATTACK TO VICTORY”), constructed of a card stock binding with a faux red leather exterior liner, the cover bearing a gilt embossed Slovak coat of arms, the interior with 154 paginated pages detailing the recent history of Slovak nationalism and the rise of the Slovak People’s Party and the Hlinka Guard, supplemented by an array of black-and-white photos, published in 1940 by Vydala Hlinkova Slovenská Ľudová Strana, featuring a handwritten dedication by Dr. Joseph Kirschbaum, then-Secretary General of the Hlinka Guard who emigrated to Canada following the Second World War, measuring 240 mm (w) x 310 mm (h), a rare example of a book personally dedicated from an important Hlinka Guard official in near extremely fine condition; three copies of a Hlinka Guard youth publication from 1940, each measuring 195 mm (w) x 238 mm (h), with age-appropriate material fatigue throughout, in overall fair condition; a copy of “NOVÉ SLOVENSKO” (“NEW SLOVAKIA”), constructed of a light card stock binding with non-paginated interior pages featuring short articles supplemented by a large array of black-and-white images, measuring 238 mm (w) x 312 mm (h), with some material fatigue evident, in very fine condition, and; two short newspaper-style publications, including copies of “SLOVENSKÁ PRAVDA” (“SLOVAKIAN TRUTH”) and “SLOVENSKÁ POLITIKA” (“SLOVAKIAN POLITICS”), in overall better than very fine condition.
