United Kingdom. A ERII General Officer's Scimitar Ceremonial Sword by Wilkinson Sword of London

This sword features a polished forged stainless steel blade, hammered to the correct curvature, magnetic, the blade designed with a wider portion from the mid-point onwards to the extremely sharp tip, the edge of which is bevelled. Both sides of the blade incorporate an ornate floral pattern. The sword is serial numbered "107321" on the wide spine where it butts the grip. The obverse ricasso is proof marked with an etched "W" (Wilkinson) within an eight-pointed star, while the reverse ricasso is etched with the Royal coat-of-arms on the United Kingdom above the inscription "APPOINTMENT TO HER MAJESTY QUEEN ELIZABETH II SWORD CUTLERS", with the Wilkinson Sword insignia and the inscription "LONDON / MADE IN ENGLAND" below. The obverse of the blade is emblazoned with a cluster of plants consisting of a thistle, a rose and a shamrock (Scotland, England, Ireland) and surmounted by the Queen's crown, with an open-ended wreath composed of branches of laurel leaves and oak leaves, the reverse of the blade bears the ERII monogram surmounted by the Queen's crown, with an open-ended wreath composed of branches of laurel leaves and oak leaves. It exhibits a few nicks along the sharper edge of the blade, along with scattered wear spots and spotting throughout, with a few contact marks at the wider end common to insertion and extraction from the scabbard, measuring 790 mm in length. The blade is embedded into the hilt and is firm to it, with an oval white synthetic washer surrounding the blade and resting upon the guard. The guard is in hand-polished brass, with a silver insignia centred at the mid-portion on both sides, the insignia illustrating a cluster of plants consisting of a thistle, a rose and a shamrock surmounted by the Georgian crown, with various leafing on all four arms on the guard on both sides. The adjoining grip consists of ivory-coloured synthetic plates forming the handle on both sides, with two Tudor-flower bearing screws, the handle finishing in a curl and incorporating a brass hole to accommodate the sword knot. The cord of the knot itself is tied in the appropriate fashion, in silvered wire interlaced with red threading, the knot itself in rolled silvered bullion wire interlaced with maroon threading, with some fraying evident at the neck, the entire sword inclusive of its blade and handle measuring 930 mm in length. The sword is housed in its original scabbard, the stiff-framed body wrapped in smooth black-finished leather, stitched along the seam on the reverse, with two circular gilt metal couplings each of which illustrates a band of acorns and oak leaves on both sides, both couplings supporting a large gilt metal ring, the coupling beside the locket and its ring exhibiting gilt wear, with traces of gilt remaining on the ring, the locket in brass with a rectangular opening at the throat, the chape also in brass and bearing a design consisting of a series of nine pairs of chevrons on both sides, the end finished in a flattened u-shape design. It exhibits contact marks on the brass fittings, with some marks and surface wear evident on the leather-wrapped body, the scabbard measuring 800 in length. Better than very fine.
