United States. A Lot of Service Medals

1. Three WW1 Victory Medals Bronze medal, obverse shows a winged Victory, reverse inscription reads THE GREAT WAR FOR CIVILIZATION with the coat of arms for the United States surmounted by a fasces, on both sides are the names of the Allied and Associated Nations, on original rainbow ribbon, first medal with one service clasp “Patrol”, second medal with a bronze citation star, third medal with three service clasps “ Aisne- Marne”, “Oise- Aisne”, and “Defensive Sector”, 36.3 mm, very fine condition. 

Footnote: An award of a common allied service medal was recommended by an inter-allied committee in March 1919. Each allied nation would design a 'Victory Medal' for award to their military personnel, all issues having certain common features, including a winged figure of victory on the obverse and the same ribbon. The Victory Medal was awarded to military personnel for service between April 6, 1917, and November 11, 1918, or with either of the following expeditions: American Expeditionary Forces in European Russia, and American Expeditionary Forces Siberia. The medal with a Patrol service clasp was awarded to an Ex-Fireman Harry Carrell Teeple (1900-1961). He fought in the US Navy during World War I. 

2.A New York World War I Service Medal. Bronze medal, obverse bearing an American soldier in front of a figure representing Liberty, reverse inscription reads FOR SERVICE 1917 - 1919 PRESENTED BY THE STATE OF NEW YORK, reverse top inscribed with number 90584, 33.4 mm, on original ribbon, very fine condition. 

3.An Army of Occupation of Germany Medal. Bronze medal, the obverse bears a relief portrait of General John J. Pershing encircled by four stars indicating his insignia of grade as Commanding General of the Field Forces, in the lower left is the inscription GENERAL JOHN J. PERSHING, on the right is a laurel wreath superimposed by a sword with the dates "1918" and "1923" enclosed by the wreath, the reverse bears an eagle surrounded by the inscription US ARMY OF OCCUPATION OF GERMANY, 32 mm, on original ribbon, evidence of oxidation on reverse, very fine condition. 

Footnote: This medal was instituted on 21 November 1941 and recognized service in Germany or Austria-Hungary between November 12, 1918 and July 11, 1923.
