(Croatian: Orden jugoslavenske zvijezde; Serbian: Орден југословенске звезде). Instituted in 1954. Multi-piece construction, in bronze gilt with red, white and blue enamels, measuring 48.7 mm (w) x 56.7 mm (h), crazing and chipping evident in the white enamels on the reverse centrepiece, scattered gilt wear, on its original neck ribbon with hook and eye, near extremely fine, manufactured by "IKOM, Zagreb". Accompanied by its 36.5 mm (w) x 9 mm (h) ribbon bar with miniature of the award affixed, in their hardshelled case of issue, Socialist Federal Republic insignia on the red padded lid and on the padded white synthetic inside lid, maker stamped "KARTONAŽA HUDETZ ZAGREB" on the bottom, recessed off white cloth medal bed, with slide release, light scuffing on the exterior, case also near extremely fine.
Footnote: The Order of the Yugoslav Star was the highest national order of merit awarded in Yugoslavia. It was founded by the President of Yugoslavia Josip Broz Tito, on February 1, 1954 and had three Classes. The Law on Decorations was amended on March 1, 1961, so from then on, the Order had four Classes: Great Star, I Class, II Class and III Class. The order was mostly awarded to foreign heads of state for the development and strengthening of peace and cooperation between nations.
